I am a classical pianist and composer. I was born in 1975 in the Chicago area (USA) and began playing piano at the age of 3. I also have played violin, viola and clarinet as a soloist and in many different ensembles (including various orchestras, concert bands, and more), but the piano was always my main instrument.
I studied under Florence Kirsch in the more “modern” style that is taught today, but have since restructured my technique to create a totally different sound more encompassing of the depth and emotion capable of the piano than is currently taught.
My current style of playing has been described as unique, having turned away from the "Modern School" of playing to embrace a more romantic sound, informed with emotion sorely lacking amongst other performers.
I have performed works by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Mendelssohn and many others.
I have been improvising at the piano since my earliest memories. I began recording my improvisations, primarily for myself, in 2006, but already by 2008, demand for the recordings of my improvisations had grown considerably and could be found in many countries around the world, prompting me to start a website where my recordings would be available to the wider public: www.jbsmusic.net
All of my improvisations are real classical improvisations. They were all played spontaneously at the piano with absolutely no preparation beforehand.
As more people learn about me and hear my recordings, demand for my music has grown, so that recently, some of my improvisations are now available (in mp3 format) at Amazon, Itunes, Apple music, Emusic, Spotify, Bandcamp and more, while Audio CDs (with wav quality sound) & FLAC format files, as well as some sheet music of my compositions are available at my website.
(In addition, some of my recordings can be heard at classicalconnect.com, and some of my sheet music is avilable for free download at free-scores.com)
