I am a composer of contemporary concert music. Born in London in 1948, I was initially self-taught, having started to compose when I was 12. I had formal composition lessons with Patric Standford at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1974-75, but did not receive a formal qualification in music until 2005, when I passed my Masters Degree in Composing Concert Music at Thames Valley University with distinction.
Major performances of my music include piano and chamber music as well as a Christmas Cantata. I have also gained several composition awards, including the Stroud Festival and the Recontres Internationales de Chant Choral.
I would happily take a look at both your suggestions although the opportunities to perform these pieces get rarer and rarer. My husband is a baritone, so that your cycle is interesting to us
I have had things composed for me over the years - as it ha[[ens nothing with clarinet, but have sung things by Judith Weir, Keith Burstein, Berg, John Buller (at ENO) - I am a decent musician but if something is very atonal then it takes a while to get it into my system and do it justice for example - but I have never shy-ed away from contemporary composers. I am sure I have left somebody crucial out - but I have premiered various pieces too.
