The UK ensemble, Polyphonica Recorder Trio, was formed in 2006 by Grace Barton, Simone Curley and Michael Piraner. The Trio is committed to historically informed performance as well as advancing the recorder as a modern instrument through collaboration with composers. Polyphonica has performed in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany, and will perform for the first time in Paris in August 2013. In 2010, they released their self-titled debut CD. Polyphonica has performed as guest ensemble in performances with recorder orchestras in the UK and Germany including Blockflötenorchester Ostfildern, Stuttgart, and Das Blockflötenconsort, Dortmund. The trio also presents innovative programmes in collaboration with guest artists, Robert Cross – countertenor, and harpist Robin Ward. Future projects include concerts with the German contralto, Luisa Kruppa. Polyphonica gives entertaining and informative workshops in recorder technique and performance practise, and they are regular tutors at the UKs largest recorder festival, The Cheltenham Recorder Festival.
