Soprano Rochelle Hart trained at the University of Oregon, on the Operatic Artistry programme at Portland State University and on the vocal and choral training scheme for young singers with the Oregon Repertory Singers before relocating to England.
In 2004 Rochelle took a break from professional singing to study History and Archaeology to PhD level. In 2009 she began re-training privately in London with coaches from the Guildhall and National Opera Studio. She currently studies privately in Manchester with soprano Nataliya Kompaniyets-Jouri. She has been accepted as an active pupil on the 2012 London Master Classes course with soprano Nelly Miricioiu and the 2012 master class course with soprano Montserrat Caballé at Auditorio de Zaragoza.
Most recently Rochelle made her full role debut in the title role of Anna Bolena, with Opera Seria, to rave reviews:
"Rochelle has a silvery tone that was, when called for, reduced to a gleaming thread, and when needed, full of rage, angst, hope." (Minjas Zugik, Curtain Calls)
"[Anna Bolena is] a substantial work with three-dimensional principals which must have the finest singers. Rochelle Hart is such a singer." (Richard Wilcocks, Bachtrack).
Rochelle originally trained as a mezzo, with early roles including Dido in Dido and Aeneas and the title role of Carmen, to name a few. Since returning to opera and retraining as a soprano she has preformed with the Chelsea Opera Group in La Traviata and Alceste. She has also sung a number of operatic arias and scenes in recitals and concerts in London and Manchester. Some scenes and excerpts include: Violetta in La Traviata, Handel's Solomon as the Queen, Wally (La Wally), Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Madama Butterfly (title role), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), and Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor).
