Classical Music's Definitive Global Network and Events Platform
Hey Guys,
CoLab week is almost finished so time for a new update.
So, on monday the orchestra split into the three groups and I'm in the audio visual group working with musicians thoughts and feelings.
As interesting as my project is I have found myself working on a pre planned project, this is supposed to be a collaborative work and it seems to feel like we are being told what to suggest in not so many words. I also don't really understand how it is helping me achieve my goal of becoming a professional orchestral musician. I understand that the Xenakis is a new piece of music and as an orchestral musician I will need to be prepared to play similar music, but the group work that I have been doing doesn't really help towards my ambition.
In my group we have created a performance that is based around the pre-recorded sound of everyones feelings about playing in an orchestra. The final idea is to give the audience the idea that they are the orchestra, which involves them standing and taking an applause from us. It's a very strange performance idea thats beginning to feel more like a theatrical performance than a message portraying the musicians thoughts.
If you would like to see the Xenakis project and/or the three mini projects we have created please feel free to come along. As strange as the whole project is it will certainly give you a new perspective of the orchestra and its definitely worth seeing.
The performance starts with the Xenakis at 7:30 on Friday evening (24th February), please do come along its a free concert worth seeing.
Thats about it for this post so until next time, feel free to post your thoughts.
