Launched in November 2013, the South London Concert Series was founded by harpsichordist, pianist and teacher Lorraine Liyanage and pianist, piano teacher and music blogger Frances Wilson to promote young and emerging musicians (primarily pianists) living or studying in the UK. The Series is unique as it also offers performance opportunities to non-professional and amateur pianists and other musicians by giving them the chance to perform alongside professionals in the same formal concert setting.

We aim to create a friendly and inspirational environment where musicians and music lovers can come together to enjoy quality chamber music in an intimate setting. Concerts are held bi-monthly and follow a similar format: an hour of music followed by socialising and a chance to meet the performers. Our programmes have a special accent on lesser-known and rarely performed repertoire.

The venue for our concerts in 2014 is the beautiful 1901 Arts Club. Located close to London’s Waterloo Station, it recreates the nineteenth-century musical salon with its decor, ambiance, and elegant upstairs bar and lounge, where concert goers and performers can mingle and socialise after the events, very much in the spirit of “music for friends and amongst friends”.

Join us to enjoy quality music in an elegant, intimate setting. Our first two concerts of 2014 are already sold out. Tickets are now on sale for our May event, with pianist Vatche Jambazian, and supporting artists Frances Wilson, Lorraine Liyanage and Alex Ewan. Buy tickets
